Ron Higa, ATC
Who better to trust your sports injuries to than a guy who works
with athletes of all levels, all the time? Former Head Athletic
Trainer at Louisville High School in Calabasas, CA, Ron Higa, ATC
graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from
California State University, Northridge in June 1999. He received
his certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association
in August 1999 and is a member of the Far West Athletic Trainers'
Association. Since September 1999, he has worked as a Physical Therapy
Aide and personal trainer at Athletic Physical Therapy's Westlake
Village location, housed in the same space as Get Fit! Athletic
Training.
In
the spring semester of 2000, Higa worked as an Athletic Training
Laboratory Instructor at Cal State Northridge, teaching college
students the principles and techniques for proper application of
protective taping, padding, wrapping and bracing, emphasizing the
prevention of sport and exercise injuries. He also worked as a student
athletic trainer during college, and served as head student trainer
for the women's Division I soccer team. Higa was responsible for
administering emergency first aid to the college athletes, evaluating
injuries, designing and implementing rehab programs and maintaining
medical records.
When he is not assisting with the evaluation and treatment of injuries
at Athletic Physical Therapy's Westlake Village location, Higa has
volunteered his time as an athletic trainer for such special events
as Air It Out, Hoop it Up, and various volleyball tournaments statewide.
He has also participated as a coach in NCAA Div III National finals
in women's volleyball. Personal interests include playing guitar,
working on cars, cooking, golf, fishing and playing volleyball.
