Eric S. Honbo, MPT, OCS

Eric Honbo An avid hoops player and recent 2003 New York City Marathon finisher, Eric S. Honbo, MPT, OCS completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences (1992) and received a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences (1997). In 2003, the American Physical Therapy Association recognized him as a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, placing him in the top 2% in his field. Like all recreational athletes, Eric has suffered from sports injuries including multiple ankle injuries and a fractured hand. He can truly empathize with the patient's desire to get back out on the court and return to their preferred activity as soon as possible. Prior to joining Athletic Physical Therapy in May of 2001, Eric worked as a clinic director for a private outpatient practice in Encino, CA and served on the staff at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center.

eric golfingIn 2002 Eric assisted at the National Basketball Association Summer Camp in Long Beach, CA by providing on-site care for players. Eric's primary interest lies in sports medicine and spinal dysfunction. He is a National & State Member of the American Physical Therapy Association & Orthopedic Section as well as a Member in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Eric is currently taking coursework in the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy with the goal of attaining an advanced manual therapy certification. He completed a yearlong Manual Therapy certification course in 2003 and has also completed postgraduate course work in the areas of Spinal & Pelvic Pain, Neural Mobilization, Orthotic Therapy & Lower Quarter Biomechanics, and Updated Concepts and Treatments of the Knee & Shoulder Girdle Dysfunctions. Outside of evaluating & treating patients at Athletic Physical Therapy's Westlake Village location, Eric enjoys traveling, golf, basketball, and music. He and his wife have 2 daughters and live in Newbury Park, CA.
