Dan Nevarez, MS, ATC

Dan Nevarez Dan, a native of the San Fernando Valley, is a Certified Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy Aide for Athletic Physical Therapy in West Los Angeles. Dan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM in 2000. With an opportunity to pursue higher education, Dan then moved to Miami, Florida to complete a Master’s Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sport Management from Florida International University in 2002. Following graduation, Dan began working for California State University, Northridge as an assistant athletic trainer from 2002-2004.

The majority of Dan’s experience is working with athletic teams at the collegiate level including the University of New Mexico, Florida International University, and Cal State Northridge. Dan has experience as an athletic trainer with sports teams including men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s volleyball and baseball. He has also been a part of several championship teams. Dan has also interned with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization at the minor league level.

dan basketballDan As an undergraduate student, Dan was involved quite extensively in the profession of athletic training, serving as student president for the University of New Mexico Athletic Training club, the president of the Rocky Mountain Student Athletic Training Association, and was awarded the Co-College Student Athletic Trainer of the year. As a graduate student Dan presented “Workforce Issues for Minorities in the Profession of Athletic Training” at the First Annual College of Education Seminar at Florida International University.

“While working with hundreds of athletes both on and off the field at the collegiate and professional level, I have learned active patient participation is vital to successful rehabilitation. I have found the best way to motivate people is to show them how they are improving on a daily basis, this makes them want to come back and work harder.”

Dan is an avid salsa dancer, and also likes to play basketball during his time off. Dan also enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
