Cody Jones, MPT, CSCS
Growing up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cody Jones was surrounded
by elite sports and sports injuries. His father is a Hall of Fame
Collegiate Wrestling coach and former Canadian National Team and
Olympic Coach. Although he never wrestled, Cody competed in 4 sports
through high school (soccer, basketball, football and rugby) and
went on to play varsity Football at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby,
British Columbia. While attending SFU, Cody completed his Bachelor’s
Degree in Kinesiology (2000). After University he worked for a year
as a Kinesiologist in a busy outpatient physiotherapy clinic specializing
in automobile accident rehab. His work experience left him thirsting
for a higher education so he immigrated to the US to attend Azusa
Pacific University, where he completed his Master’s Degree
in Physical Therapy (2004).
Prior
to joining the Athletic Physical Therapy team in May 2005, Cody
was employed as the sole therapist at a Thousand Oaks Orthopedic
clinic and was also on staff at Encino-Tarzana Medical Center. He
is a National & State Member of the American Physical Therapy
Association: Sports & Orthopedic Section as well as a Member
in the National Strength and Condition Association where he is certified
as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
Cody is currently taking courses through the North American Institute
of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) with the goal of attaining
advanced Manual Therapy certification. He has recently been certified
in ART Active Release Techniques for soft tissue dysfunctions. Cody
has also completed course work in McKenzie Back Protocols and Functional
Cycling injury prevention and Competitive Bicycle Fitting.
After University, Cody turned his competitive energy toward distance
running and triathlon competitions. He has completed the LA, Seattle
and San Diego R&R Marathons, multiple 5K and 10K marathons.
Cody has also completed numerous sprint, Olympic and Ironman triathlons
and has completed Ironman Canada in August of 2005.
Other areas of interest include: travel, outdoor activities, music
and tasty food. He lives in Thousand Oaks with his beautiful fiancée
Danielle.
